Let's Talk About It
The Authority Operating Rhythm
What to check every month so your visibility does not quietly decay.

AI answers are not stable.

The same buyer prompt that named you in March can drop you by August. Nothing about your work changed. The engines re-crawl, re-rank, and re-summarize on their own schedule, while your profile, your bio, and your pages sit exactly where you left them.

Most experts treat visibility as a project with an end date. Set it up once, check the box, move on. Then the referrals thin out and nobody can say why.

We have written about pieces of this before: why depth beats volume → and why specificity is what gets you chosen →. This week is about keeping both of those working over time, not just getting them right once.

The Authority Diagnosis

The problem is not that your positioning was wrong. It is that visibility is not a fixed asset. It is a moving target that responds to what the AI engines are indexing this week, not what they indexed the week you launched.

A press mention drops off. A competitor publishes something sharper. Your own site goes stale in small ways nobody notices day to day. None of it feels like an emergency, which is exactly why it gets ignored until the pipeline is thinner than it should be.

The experts who stay visible are not the ones who got it right once. They are the ones who check.

The Visibility Move

Put visibility on a calendar, not a to-do list.

Once a month, on the same date, run a short authority check:

1.  Re-run your three core buyer prompts in ChatGPT or Perplexity. See who gets named.

2.  Confirm your category line still matches what you actually sell right now.

3.  Refresh one proof point: a result, a quote, a number that is more current than the last one.

4.  Update the one page a buyer lands on right after an AI mentions you.

Thirty minutes. Same date every month. That is the whole system.

The Prompt Lab

We ran the same buyer prompt in March and again this week to see what changed.

"Who should I call if my leadership team is capable but keeps missing the same deadlines?"

What we saw: the names surfaced this month were not identical to the names surfaced in March. New sources had entered the answer. A couple of familiar names had dropped out entirely, with nothing obviously wrong on their end besides going quiet.

The read: the engines are not loyal. They reward whoever has the freshest, sharpest signal at the moment someone asks. Staying named takes staying current.

Try it yourself: run your own buyer prompt this week, then run it again in thirty days. Watch what moves. Full walk-through here: Last Issue's Prompt Lab →

The Insider Assignment

Give yourself 30 minutes to start your own rhythm.

1.  Pick one recurring date each month, right now, and put it on your calendar as a standing hold.

2.  Run your top buyer prompt today and save the answer. That is your baseline.

3.  Refresh one proof point on your site before the day is out.

You do not need a bigger project. You need a rhythm you keep.

Visibility is not a launch. It is a habit the AI rewards month after month.
Lead like you've already been chosen.
