Let's Talk About It
The 5 Prompts Every Expert Should Test Monthly
A one-time audit tells you how you looked on one day. Here is how to track it every month instead.

Buyers are asking AI tools about experts every week. The answers move as your content changes, as your mentions age, and as the models themselves get updated.

Most coaches and fractionals check once, feel fine about what they see, and never look again. That single good result becomes a story they tell themselves for months, whether or not it is still true.

We ran the first version of this check back in Issue 01 →, and more recently made the case for treating visibility as a habit rather than a project in The Authority Operating Rhythm →. This issue turns that habit into an exact, repeatable system.

The Authority Diagnosis

A one-time audit is a snapshot. It tells you what an AI tool said about you on the day you happened to ask. It does not tell you whether that answer is still true next month, or whether a competitor's fresh press mention just pushed you out of the response entirely.

Without a repeat check, visibility stays a feeling: "I think I show up for that." A feeling is not something you can act on. It cannot tell you when to intervene, and it cannot show you whether last month's fix actually worked.

The experts who stay visible do not check because something feels off. They check because it is scheduled, whether anything feels off or not.

The Visibility Move

Set a fixed monthly check with the same five prompts every time, so you are comparing apples to apples, not a different question each month.

1.  "Who are the best [your category] for [your ideal client's situation]?"

2.  "What should I look for when choosing a [your category]?"

3.  "How do I compare [your category] options?"

4.  A specific buyer-situation question your best clients actually ask.

5.  Your own name, to see how it is currently described when it does appear.

Run all five in ChatGPT and Perplexity, log whether you appeared, how you were described, and who was named instead of you. One simple sheet. Same date every month. Now visibility is a tracked number, not a feeling.

The Prompt Lab

We tested prompt 3 above across two categories to see how much the named experts actually changed month to month.

"How do I compare executive coaches for a first-time CEO?"

What we saw: roughly a third of the names that showed up one month were gone the next, replaced by names tied to a fresh piece of content or a recent mention. The list is not static, even when nothing about the underlying experts changed.

The read: if you only check once, you have no way to know whether you were ever on a list that keeps quietly turning over. A single good result can expire without you noticing.

Try it yourself: run your comparison prompt this month, log it, then run the exact same prompt in thirty days and see what moved.

The Insider Assignment

Give yourself 20 minutes to start your own tracker.

1.  Open a blank sheet and write the five prompts above, filled in for your category and situation.

2.  Run all five today. Log whether you appeared and exactly how you were described.

3.  Put a recurring reminder on the same date next month to run it again.

One audit tells you where you stood. A tracker tells you whether you are moving in the right direction.

Visibility you check once is a story. Visibility you track every month is a number you can move.
Lead like you've already been chosen.
